Governor Manyang was speaking during a meeting organized to enlighten the members of the party on their roles and responsibilities in the party last Saturday.

Manyang urged the members to exchange ideas that would contribute to the success of the party and the government of the new nation.

“Unity is power, divided we fall, united we stand”, he said.

“The war of liberation is till continuous, our people [are] in poverty, we lack basic services, we cannot achieve all that we need if we are divided,” he said in simple Arabic.

Jonglei State Speaker and member of the SPLM, Peter Chol Wal said the ruling party has consolidated peace and unity amongst South Sudanese and is focused on the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) which culminated into independence of South Sudan in 2011.

“The principle and objectives of the SPLM are based on building the republic of South Sudan based on justice, democratic, secular system of the government and popular participation of its entire people,” Wal told the members during the caucus meeting.

Chol told the gathering that SPLM was formed as a result of struggle for social and political survival, freedom from all forms of oppressions, slavery and economic, social and religious discrimination and exploitation,” he said.

A member of the party urged his comrades and the public not to blame SPLM as a party but members for not fulfilling their deputies.

“A lost member of SPLM is the one who says SPLM is dying rather than saying that the members are not fulfilling their duties”, Philip Thon Nyok released his statement in the SPLM caucus meeting in Bor.

“There is the SPLM party and the members assigned to the organs of the party from the national level down to Boma levels. The party [SPLM] is clean like Jesus Christ but the members in charge of the organs may be wrongdoers,” said Nyok.

He described SPLM government as democratic and will not entertain other parties influenced by the Khartoum to interrupt South Sudan development.

“The SPLM party governance is democratic but should not be a meaningless democracy which will entertain South Sudan parties influenced by Khartoum just to impede the development of in South Sudan,” he said.
