The Deputy Mayor, Kamil Wana Uraj said they have set up an action plan to collect all the garbage in the town as some of the contracted agencies appeared to be working slowly and could not manage the daily increase of garbage in the town.
“We have to involve ourselves in clearing the garbage on the street so that we can start up with a progressive opening of the important feeder roads linking the residential areas in the town,” he said.
This cleaning comes following the recently local order made by the town council mayor Mr. Michael Gaeba to the residents to clean their residential areas.
He mentioned that in the local order, everybody was subjected to clear his or her home to prevent disease outbreaks.
The ongoing general cleaning in Wau town is backed by the Egyptian Irrigation Company which contributed two trucks and one heavy machinery bulldozer to assist the government in cleaning the garbage in the town.
Uraj warned the residents not to continue dumping the garbage near their homes but to collect them into sacks or other relevant containers for easy collection.
In the next two weeks, the authority will be moving to inspect residential areas and anyone found violating the collection or cleaning will be dealt with in accordance to the law and will also be subjected to pay a fine.
