The chairperson of the organizing committee for citizen’s constitutional dialogue, Simon Reat Mar has said that the dialogue was facilitated by South Sudanese civil society activists and Justice Africa and was bringing together all participants from the counties in Jonglei state.

He said the dialogue will outline the principle of good governance and provide an analysis of the transition constitution to the people of South Sudan.

“It will also give the participants an opportunity to outline what they believe should be incorporated and be subsequently submitted to the national constitution review commission,” Simon Reat Mar said.

Simon said that the conference is not only for Jonglei state but is also targeting South Sudan states.

“We have already conducted the conference in eight states so we have remained with two states that are Warrap and Central Eqautoria,” he said.

He said that citizens dialogue constitution is an awareness which will bring the input or thought of the community together to produce the permanent constitution for South Sudan.

“That is why we come to Jonglei to review and recorded the national constitutional review commission,” he said.

“We have brought four participants from the counties which have made up the total number of 44 participants in this citizens constitutional dialogue,” Reat said.

Reat also said that they have invited all civil societies to attend the two-day workshop together with religions sectors.

Pigi County Paramount Chief, James Machar Jock has said they were informed about the conference while in Pigi County.

“We have started off from Pigi to Bor for the conference as scheduled by South Sudan Law Society,” Machar Jock said.

“I am appealing to the government to extend these programs to the community so that we know the importance of peace and begin considering the independence of South Sudan,” the Paramount chief said.
