Majok said that disarmament was a called to remove the guns that were eluded in by civilians whose intentions were not known adding that they were informed that some criminals from David Yau Yau have entered into the town with their guns.

The commissioner said that their mission targeted some residential areas in town.

“We targeted some residential houses in Bor, we searched for guns only but our security forces had no problems with the people living here”, Adol said.

The security sources said told Gurtong that disarmament was target houses of individuals who were marked by state security apparatus in Bor.

Adol said that they were having a joint force of SPLA, Police and auxiliary police of about 1000 privates and 89 officers deployed to control the movement of the people in town during the town searching.

All the roads leading to Bor town were closed.

“We got 85 AK47s, one PKM and many pistols from civilian houses,” he said.

He said some individuals were keeping guns with them, which they use at night to cause crimes.

Most of the illegal guns were found in the houses of some government officials in Bor but there was no official statement from the police or government spokesman.

In February, the Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA) conducted disarmament in parts of Bor County and to rescue the situation of the two clans of Deer and Koch as most of them were using arms for fighting each other from Makuach Payam.

The people feared for the influx of the riffles in to the civil population this year.

Last Year the South Sudan army collected 18,000 fire arms in eleven counties of Jonglei state.
