Speaker in Limbo

It was the Vice President position that had been vacant, but now it is the Speaker of the National Legislature. Nomination of a replacing Speaker is expected to take place next week Monday.

Despite no official information released, close sources said challenge in nominating a new Speaker had delayed the long term appointment of the Vice President Hon. James Wani Igga.

The Speaker who should now come from the Greater Upper Nile region is yet to be appointed by the parliament.

Meanwhile officials declined to speak out who should be the next parliamentarian in the national legislature to be the Speaker.

However, inside sources speculate that Hon. Atem Garang – former deputy speaker at the Sudan national parliament then and ex-Vice President Dr. Riek Machar are rumored to eye the position.
