Lillian Velantino Rizik said the State Ministry of Finance, Trade and Industry (Department of Investment), is organizing a three-day investment forum from the 16th be graced by over 40 investors from Holland, Germany, Malaysia, India, United Kingdom, China and other expected participants.

The forum is expected to involve the state Ministry of Finance, Trade and Industry, Ministry of Physical Infrastructure, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Ministry of Health and Ministry of Information, Telecommunication. 

Speaking to Gurtong, the minister said the investors are encouraged to advance toward improving Infrastructure and Tourism sector and help in constructing roads, bridges, airport, sea/ rivers, ports, railways, factories, warehouses, wholesales and silos.

The state government also seeks support in constructing sewer and water treatment plants, irrigation and drainage system, real estate development industry, hydro-electric dams, reservation and water harvesting techniques.

She said agriculture and forestry, trade, industry and investment, private universities, private hospitals, animal production and fisheries sectors, cooperative and rural transformation are also key issues adding that agro-business, textiles, leather industries and food processing such as flour milling, oil pressing mills, sugar processing, fruits and vegetable need support.

The investors companies will be free to engage in mining industries such as quarrying, energy, electricity and gas industries, and research on mapping of natural resources for economic use.

She said the investors are free to access medium to heavy manufacturing industries such as cement, mining, construction materials (titles), zincs, steel paints, electric and domestic appliances.

Other key investment sectors are transport, telecommunications, electronic print media and information communications technology.

The investors will be encouraged to explore commercial banking, insurance, property management, financial institutions as well as pharmaceutics including chemicals, medical and surgical industries.

“ The state government will later on sign a memo with willing investors based on interesting sector each apply for,” said the minister.

She said that Western Bahr el Ghazal state has a support from the national government right from the office of the president supporting the forum supported by the Chinese bank as well as other financial partners who are willing to support the projects in Wau.

She said the state government needs to tarmac the roads within the town through support from the investor companies adding that the investors are also asked to engage in installing the power electricity through building Soe Dam which will generate more than 15 Megawatts.

“Our state government has got an investment promotion act that attracts all investors to work in the state,” she said.
