Speaking during celebrations to honour St Daniel Comboni at the St Mary Parish in Yambio on Friday, the Parish Priest Father Peter Moudie urged faithful to accommodate each other in the spirit of ‘Africanness’.

The celebration held on Friday and attended by Christians and several students from Abangite and Solidaritycolleges, Yabongo Girls’ Boarding, St Mary Primary and Abangite Nursery schools echoed calls for a united South Sudan.

“All South Sudanese should put aside their tribal inclinations and live as one people .The vision of St Comboni was to unite  Africa “, he said.

St Joseph Minor Seminary Rector Father John Gbemboyo urged Africans to maintain their culture instead of aping western lifestyles. He cited the dressing code of the youth in Western Equatoria State, saying they did not with the culture of the indigenous population.

The celebrations also marked Father Gbemboyo’s 15 years of service to the church.

Speakers encouraged the youth to embrace strong Christian values, saying such action would be in honour of the late St Comboni’s dedication to unity.
