Western Equatoria State Governor Bangasi Joseph Bakosoro told parents and pupils at Zerada nursery and primary schools that the gesture by UNICEF will contribute to efforts to upgrade education standards in the state.

Speaking during the ground breaking ceremony at the school, Governor Bakosoro commended UNICEF for its efforts in supporting education in the state.

The Governor encouraged parents to take their children to school, saying agencies such as UNICEF had shown strong commitment in addressing infrastructural challenges, including lack of learning facilities.

“I am happy that with this kind of development, our children will no longer have their classes under mango trees”, said Bakosoro.

The event that was temporarily disrupted by rains showed the glaring challenges schools without classroomsgo through during the rainy season.

The State Minister of Education, Science and Technology Pia Philip Michael commended the Zerada community for its continued support and engagement in education matters.

The occasion came days after the State Minister of Education met the UNICEF Country Director Jonathan Veitna in his office.
