The branch’s deputy managing director Dhou Nuor Yisa told Gurtong the robbers broke into the bank’s safe and took off with the cash.
“We received information about the robbery on Sunday morning. We actually confirmed that when we came to the office”, said Yisa.
He said that a committee comprising of bank staff and security agencies that was immediately constituted confirmed the theft.
The manager revealed that two policemen and a security guard were under investigation over the incident.
This is the second robbery in recent months in a financial institution in the Western Bahr el Ghazal State capital Wau, after a similar heist last year at Dahabshiil where robbers made away with millions of South Sudanese Pounds.
