The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio Barani Hiiboro Edward has at the same time commended the Maridi County Commissioner Wilson Thomas for his tireless efforts in maintaining peace and stability in the county.

Speaking when he toured the county last Friday, Bishop Kusala appreciated Maridi Commissioner for his good cooperation and support towards church projects.

He appealed to the Commissioner to continue providing security to the Silesian Missionaries who are undertaking several projects in education and health in Manguo Parish.

“It is important to note that the church is supplementing several development initiatives in this county and as such should be supported by all of us. The church is not a business and as such need our cooperation at all times”, he said.

“I want to say thanks to the people of Maridi for accepting the community activities done by the church for it is helping them and will continue to help the young generations”, he added.

He cited the hospital and primary school that has been built by the missionaries for the vulnerable communities as some of the main development initiatives by the church.

He announced that two primary schools, a secondary school and a vocational training school will be built in Manguo next year.

Commissioner Thomas called for the construction of a primary school in Arende Village, saying the area’s population has tremendously grown.

He also pledged his government’s continued commitment to provide security.
