According to the now acting Spokesperson of the association, Deng Garang, the state’s football club association has reasons to believe that the 15 member leaders have repeatedly gone against the Federation for International Football Association rules.

He said the members have been accused of lack of professionalism, bribery and favoritism.
“We managed to impeach them and had a vote of no confidence against them because we the general Association of Local Football Association in Northern Bahr el Ghazal are tired of the crooked and unprofessional ways of managing the association. They used to take bribes from the individuals; they were not following the FIFA rules and were not able to learn through mistakes they have committed so far for the years they have been in power.”

Deng Garang says that the new elected body will ensure that football in the state is recognized country wide.

“As our football skills have been lagging behind during the leadership of this regime, and now we manage to chop them off, it will be an opportunity for the incoming team to invest in youth and the upcoming generation so that Aweil becomes a great place for soccer as known nationwide of great skills.” He stresses

Garang says that the association has elected Osman Agany as the President for the Aweil Local Football Association, as they wait to conduct an election in the next two weeks.

The impeached Local Football Association President, Mr. Garang Kuol Mabior has dismissed the allegationsagainst him and his team saying that they instead voluntarily resigned from heading the association.

“I and my team after several unprofessional approaches and silly questions, harassments and embarrassments have finally decided to voluntarily resign from holding this office because some whom we think were not competent to debate on knowledge of FIFA rules were challenging us every now and then without any mistakes. They are completely not right to accuse us of bribery, mismanagement and so forth because during our reign, we introduced lots of techniques within the local football association of NBGS which we think is an achievement.” He said.

He however said that, he will still support the association if asked to.

“They are more than welcome to ask for my help should they feel like asking for it anytime. I don’t have any ill intention with them though they used unprofessional approach to handle this.”
