WAU, July 2015 [Gurtong] – The Ambassador made the statement while addressing the audience during the opening ceremony of Wau Civic Engagement Center in Western Bahr el Ghazal State capital Wau on Monday.
“The United states is working very hard to see that the two warring parties in South Sudan’s conflict reach an agreement ahead of the 17th August 2015 Inter Governmental Authority Development ( IGAD’s) and other mediating members deadline set for the resumption of peace negotiation in Ethiopia,” she said.
“The American People want to see your suffering in this conflict come to an end,” she said.
While addressing a joint group of civil society organizations and members of political parties at the inauguration ceremony Centre at Wau Civic Center, Ambassador Mary Catherine Phee also said the center will help to improve the capacity of the civil society in Bahr el Ghazal in acessing information.
“This center will also help you to write a story about the history of your country and access to respond to any comment required for your constitution,” she said.
The State Minister for Gender, Child and Social welfare, Hon. Naima Abbas said that the Centre is of importance to the people of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State.
“We the citizens of Western Bahr el Ghazal State are very happy to have such successful constructed access to information center in Wau and we hope that the center will help our people.”
