BOR 16 November 2015 [Gurtong]-Most parts of Bor was flooded after heavy rains on Monday caused disruptions in the town.

Shops, hotels and lodges in Marol market were all affected by the rains.

The major road from the river side to the airport and the main road to the northern part of the town were all cut off.

Mr. Ayiei Malual Ayiei, a resident of Lekyak in Bor town said that most roads have been flooded.
“All the local and major roads are almost closing. Vehicles are running in deep water and motorbikes are getting stuck because of the high levels of water”, he said.

Bor has year in year out been faced with floods because of the poor drainage system of the town. Houses in Hai Panjak, Hai Machuor, Langbaar, Marol market and Pakwau were all flooded.

Mr. John Kut, a resident of Langbaar said “I am going home now to see my bedroom because once its rains, it always wets my mattress and bed sheets which is very bad.”

In September, the Mayor of Bor Municipal Council appealed to the business community in the County to help the County administration raise funds to buy a drainage pump system that would help in draining water from the town.
