New Delhi: Ashok Argal, Bharatiya Janata Party MP has blamed the Congress party for influencing the police.
Ashok Argal who has been charge sheeted in the cash for votes scam has so far escaped arrest. Along with former BJP MPs Fagan Singh Kulaste and Mahavir Singh Bhagora, he was allegedly sought to be bribed to vote in favor of Congress during the 2008 trust vote and facilitated a sting-operation to record the proceedings.
Also, Fagan Singh Kulaste, Mahavir Singh Bhagora as well as Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh have been sent to judicial custody till Sep 19.
“We respect the decision of the court, but the court decision is based on the charge sheet filed by the police,” Argal told reporters.
He further commented, “The charge sheet has proved us dishonest, had we been corrupt, we would not have got the TV cameras to expose it. We would not have shown the currency notes in parliament.” Argal has not been arrested yet and the police have asked for Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar’s approval to do so.
Moreover, on July 22, 2008, the three BJP MPs indeed waved bundles of currency notes in the Lok Sabha ahead of a trust vote and had also alleged that they were given the money to vote in favor of the Manmohan Singh government.
