“There cannot be Sadbhavna without justice” said the riot victims of Naroda Patiya. These people have condemned chief minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Sadbhavna Mission’. The chief minister has been given an open letter as the victims have dismissed the mission calling it another publicity trick and demanded that justice be given to them.
On Sunday, JD (U) national spokesperson Shivanand Tiwari said in New Delhi that Modi had failed to provide protection to Muslims during the Gujarat riots of 2002. Tiwari said, "Modi had failed to discharge raj dharma (ruler’s responsibility) in Gujarat. When he can’t do justice to five crore people in a state, how can he do justice to 125 crore in the country?"
Moreover Tiwari added, "Modi’s body language during his speech in Hindi after beginning his fast (on Friday) has been full of arrogance." And "There is still a sense of fear and insecurity among the people in Gujarat."
Regarding the next general election in 2014, LK Advani, senior BJP leader, had favored a US Congressional committee report which said that Modi might be a next prime ministerial candidate.
The seniors from different parties commented on the fast of Modi. Sharad Yadav, president JD (U), criticized the fast of Modi as, "Nearly half the country’s population does not get even one decent meal a day and yet it has become a fashion for people to go on fast."
"This is not the BJP’s official stand. The fast is an issue related to the state." Bashistha Narain Singh, chief of Bihar JD (U), said.
