karachi Blast_copyIn a car bomb attack eight people have been killed. This was a suicide bomber who targeted a top anti-terror police officer in Pakistan’s biggest and financial capital Karachi. This blast also wounded several other people.

The suicide bomber exploded a vehicle packed with explosives outside the residence of a top anti-terror police official which killed at least eight people and this left a 10ft deep hole in the ground.

Chaudry Aslam, who remained unharmed, has been given an operation to defeat the Taliban and other militants.

"This is a cowardly act, I’m not scared. I will not spare them," Chaudry Aslam blamed the Pakistani Taliban after the attack.

Many school children were heading to their destination as the bomb exploded near Mr Aslam’s residence in the Defense neighborhood of Karachi.

This is a wealthy residential area that hardly experiences militant attacks.

The people killed in the attack are six policemen who were protecting Mr Aslam’s residence, one woman and one child. Chaudry Aslam guessed that “at least 440lb of explosives were used”.

Karachi is considered to be a home for many Taliban militants who have fled army operations in the North West near the Afghan border. This big city has not seen as many militant attacks as other major cities in Pakistan. The responsibility for the attack has not been claimed so far. The Pakistani Talibans have targeted senior members of the security forces across the country, the sources reported.
