On Thursday, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, announced an assistance of Rs. five crore for the earthquake victims in affected areas in Sikkim.

Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Chamling, on phone conversation, was assured by Mr Chouhan for maximum support from the people of Madhya Pradesh during this time of tragedy. Mr Chouhan said that this massive earthqwuake has killed dozens of people and the people of Madhya Pradesh were always with them to give every possible support.

Mr Chouhan also said that the state government will supply all possible help needed during this time of natural disaster.

Today is the fourth day for the rescue operations in the area. For the army, the main challenge in the present time is to establish connectivity with areas which are still out of bounds due to the landslides and broken roads in Sikkim.

On Wednesday, on the other hand, an Army aerial survey explained that, in north, at least five villages in Sikkim have been wiped out, the sources reported. Alarmingly, the survey appeared unsuccessful to notice certain people in or around the area which raises fears that the earthquake toll may go up considerably.
