Motor car giant Ford Motor Co is planning to produce electric cars in collaboration with its core allies in china. After Canada last week announced the launch of its first electric fuel efficient car, the Chinese markets also wants to make a move in the same direction.
Allay Mulally the CEO of Ford Motor Co said “As we move to more electrification, you’re going to see more hybrids, plug-in hybrids and all-electric cars”
According to the Ministry of Science in China, the Chinese government wants to see at least 1 million electric powered cars by 2015; however it all depends on the infrastructure and growth in battery technology.
Ford is giving a serious thought on introducing their famous Lincoln luxury brand in the Chinese market to valve the ever mounting luxury Sedan market. Mr. Mulally further added “We have a great luxury brand in Lincoln, which we have recommitted ourselves to, There’s going to be tremendous pull from China to have access to these great vehicles.”
A sum of 1.6 billion dollars has been invested by ford to setup four car manufacturing factories in china and plans of offering 15 different models in 5 years are in place.
