PranabThe Joint Parliamentary Committee’s opposition members feel that 2G issue was a “serious lapse”. They said that the note of Finance Ministry on spectrum allocation was not submitted before it.

On 2G spectrum allocation on Tuesday, the Joint Parliamentary Committee took a decision to summon Finance Secretary RS Gujral on 13th October.

The Joint Parliamentary Committee members demanded that the Finance Secretary should be summoned to clarify on the issue.

Sitaram Yechury, Communist Party of India (Marxist) raised the issue of the Finance Ministry note as the JPC on the 2G issue met in New Delhi. Sitaram Yechury recommended that the then Finance Minister P. Chidambaram might have emphasized on 2G spectrum’s auction.

The documents submitted by the Finance Ministry to the JPC did not carry the “note in question”, Yechury said.

 “He is understood to have contended if the 2G note was deliberately not submitted, it amounted to breach of privilege. If it was a lapse, it was a serious one”, Yechury said.
