Rahul GandhiRahul Gandhi, the General Secretary of AICC met with the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah in Srinagar. He had a meeting with Omar to discuss the working of the NC coalition government in that state.

"Rahul and Omar had a breakfast meeting this morning and the two leaders discussed the functioning of the coalition government and various developmental matters within the state and at the national level," an official said.

Rahul planned a two day visit and arrived on Monday to observe the state. He held many meetings with party leaders, youths and students. Rahul is also thinking to address the public meetings in certain areas of Kargil.

On Monday evening, talking to media, Rahul said that he had come to Kashmir to launch the membership drive to “bring the youth into the political system”.

"I had a very nice interaction with students at Kashmir University. I also interacted with panches and sarpanches and the youth here. I am proud of what I heard during the interactions," he said.

Rahul also visited the Hazratbal shrine. He interacted with the local people and tourists.
