Low Gas Pressure hampering lives in PindiThere appears to be no let up to the miseries of Pindiites as they have been facing low gas pressure over a week.

The low gas pressure affected people`s daily routine in the garrison city, who dubbed the current situation as a failure of policy makers. The residents of many areas of Rawalpindi especially in the downtown complained of gas load-shedding on Sunday. In several areas, low pressure of gas was also reported due to which many housewives failed in cooking food.

The worst affected areas were: Chaklala, Jhanda Cheechi, Marir Hassan, Morgah, Adiala Road, Fizaia colony, Sadiqabad, Shamsabad, Dhoke Kala Khan, Nayya Mohallah, Raja Bazaar, Purana Qila, Chittian Hattian, Mohallah Waris Khan, Allama Iqbal Colony, Dhoke Dalal, Akalgarh, Tahli Mohri, Tench Bhatta, Kiani Road, Azizabad, Dhoke Ratta and some adjoining localities.

The domestic consumers in these area faced complete absence of gas from early morning to 2:00pm and even after that the pressure of gas was too low to cook food. “The low pressure of gas could hardly catch fire and it destroyed the holiday of children and office goers,” said Sameer Ahmed, a resident of College Road.

Imran Siddique feared that the situation would get from bad to worse in the coming days when it would rain. He said that the government should provide natural gas to the people for domestic use instead of providing to the industry.

Tauqeer Ahmed, a resident of Nayya Mohallah, said that they have been facing low gas pressure with frequent intervals since last week. He said, “If the gas was not enough to meet the demands of the existing consumers, then why the SNGPL issued new connections for CNG-filling stations and other industrial units?”
