Courts of Manila have issued the arrest orders for the ex-president of Philippine’s husband, Jose Miguel Mike Arroyo on the graft cases for which the ex-president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo is already under arrest at the Veterans Memorial Medical Centre in Quezon City due to her critical health conditions.

Mike, who is also a lawyer by profession, has filed a bail in the court after it issued his arrest orders. Mike Arroyo and Gloria Arroyo are facing fraud charges during the time of presidentship of Ms. Arroyo, a case initiated by the now president of Philippines, Benigno Aquino III.

According to the charges levied on Mike, he has assisted President Gloria and acted as her ally over fraud worth millions of dollars which are unaccounted for during the nine years of regime of his wife. He is accused of working as his wife’s back room operator and managing all fraud activities to ensure that nothing falls on the apparently clean character of Ms. Arroyo.

The couple is being held accountable for corruption charges in a $330 million contract by the government with ZTE Corporation, which is a Chinese Telecommunications Company, to initiate the process of broadband network throughout the country in 2007. Through various sources it was revealed that the contract was originally for $130 million only and was overpriced only for personal benefits.

As soon as the rumours started, the President had cancelled the deal and an investigation committee was formed. Mr. and Mrs. Arroyo are facing charges of fraud over the same case and both have pleaded not guilty before the court.
