The ex-foreign minister Tun Daim Zainuddin anticipated that with the series of events taking place in the country, the mid-year elections will take place this year, especially with the increasing number of mistakes the Barisan National (BN) leaders are making. The more time they take to call the elections, the higher are the chances they keep making more and more mistakes ensuring their exit.

Explaining the situation a little more, he said at the same time when BN will be making mistakes, Pakatan Rakyat (PR) will continue to give rise to bickering amongst their own allies, further worsen the situation which will eventually not benefit either of the parties.

Giving further details of this thinking process over being questioned about the next election dates and the circumstances leading to that, he shared that there will still be higher chances of BN taking the lead in the elections due to their new mandate shared by the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razzaq, but it will fail in getting their two-third majority back in the parliament.

He also highlighted that the election dates will be officially announced as soon as the Prime Minister will be confident that his party is in full form to win. Meanwhile, PR will keep fighting with its own allies to gain majority over the other and get a higher number of people’s representatives, if not forming the government.
