The arrested MNS workers justify causing violence and breaking corporate offices by calling it the anger and anxiety of general public. Members of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena went on a rampage and broke down the office of Indiabulls in Mumbai.
“Window panes were broken and some articles in the office were damaged,” said Shashikant Ohale of IndiaBulls.
Raj Thackeray’s Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) is on a mission to pressurize the private companies to quit stealing water from farmers. While addressing to a gathering in Amravati, Thackeray warned of consequences if Indiabulls does not put an end to unjust diversion of water for its projects. He also accused the crippled government for not taking a stand for common man.
“Your water is sought to be given to this power plant. You must be out on the streets from tomorrow to stop this… There will be severe consequences if projects like that of Indiabulls Pvt Ltd, which require diversion of water, aren’t stopped immediately,” Thackeray said.
The government had diverted over 80 million cubic metre of water from Wardha district, which was meant for irrigation to the 1350 MW thermal power project of Indiabulls Power Ltd at Amravati in Vidharbha. An NGO has filed a PIL in the Bombay High Court claiming that the diversion of water breached the governor’s directives on usage of funds for backward regions and that the diversion will adversely affect over 25,000 farmers.
“There were seven persons, including two women who attacked the IndiaBulls office on Monday. We have already identified the miscreants and looking for them,” said Amravati police commissioner Ajit Patil.
