Youth Deputy Chairman of MCA has suggested immediate party elections hoping that the new leadership would resolve all major problems and review the earlier EGM decision of backing out of the Federal Cabinet.

Mah Hang Soon explained that he is reluctant of holding another EGM to revert the decision since it will raise doubts about all the decisions taken by the existing central delegates till now. Hence, a new central delegation will be more in a position to review the decision.

“For the time being there is no possibility of a reversal of that decision, unless we have a new set of delegates and new leadership who will review the decision. The party president has said he will not seek re-election in year-end’s party elections, but I feel we should hold the party elections earlier and hand over the baton to the newly elected party leadership so that MCA could walk out of the current doldrums and emerge strong again,” Mah said.

On the other hand, DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang said that the Opposition Leader should at least be a minister. He said this while proposing a number of reforms to Parliament. The incumbent Opposition Leader is a member of Pakatan Rakyat (PR). Lim said he should be obliged to full respect in the Parliament. He also suggested a comparable amount of allowance for the Opposition Leader, along with an official car.
