Rajasthan Royals cricketer Ankeet Chavan has confessed to spot-fixing in IPL 6 on Friday. The Indian cricketer hesitated at first but later succumbed to mounting pressure and appealed for mercy. He said he was lured by the great amount of money involved in the deal, which he has greatly regretted.

On the other hand, cricketer S Sreesanth has accused the Delhi Police for throwing dirt at him which has caused great damage to his repute. His lawyer, Deepak Prakash, claims that all the allegations made against his client are baseless. He maintains that Delhi Police does not have any evidence against Sreesanth.

Delhi Police chief Neeraj Kumar said, “We are aware of only this syndicate. I said in my press conference that there may be other bookies in other cities of the country who may be indulging in similar practices. But we are not aware of this. But it would be unfair on my part to say that it is definitely happening in other cities and that there are other syndicates doing these things.”

The police have detained six bookies for having alleged involvement in the spot-fixing case. The CBCID has also seized Rs 14 lac cash, laptops and mobile phones during several raids. The IPL 6 spot-fixing cases will most likely be investigated by the BCCI Committee on corruption. The matter will then be referred to the IPL disciplinary committee, which is headed by Arun Jaitley.
