The incoming government has already begun to alarm the general public to avoid keeping high expectations and prompt results. Elected members of Pakistan Muslim League-N are using different platforms to convince people that problems like power shortage and prevailing terrorism requires well through-of strategy and demands time.
The new government in Punjab has announced a Punjab Development and Governance Conference in June 2013. Stakeholders and experts from industrial and agriculture sectors will participate in the conference to draft a five-year plan and propose recommendations for the upcoming budget.
Ahsan Iqbal, PML-N’s Deputy Secretary General, briefed the Lahore Economic Journalists Association (LEJA) about the priorities of his party. He confirmed that Punjab’s upcoming government would actively introduce programs to promote value addition and agro-based industry for economic development.
“Applications for these apex posts will be advertised in media on the very first day of the new federal government and competent Pakistani professionals will be appointed with major task to end the losses to the public sector enterprises and make them self dependent.
“The PML-N is committed to make every possible effort to mitigate the sufferings of people, caused by power outages. In this connection, short-term and long-term measures are being taken. But it will be illogical to give any deadline or date for the end of load shedding. This may lead to media trial of the new government,” Iqbal said on Wednesday.
