Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has accused BJP and RJD of conspiring to use the Bihar food poisoning incident to reap political benefits.
“The Forensic Science Laboratory, which highlights the presence of pesticide in the mid-day meal, has confirmed our apprehensions about a conspiracy behind the tragedy at a school in Saran last week,” Kumar told his party MPs, MLAs and office-bearers on Monday.
CM Kumar highlighted that RJD and BJP had called bandh together on both the occasions, which makes it evident that a secret understanding harvests between them. He also raised concern over similar incidents that might take place in future as part of the opposition’s mega plan to weaken his government.
“They are testing my patience but I will not move away from the chosen path. Bihar’s mandate was for development and we shall continue to move ahead along that path,” he added.
The midday meal project claimed 23 lives in a village school in India after the children ate poisoned food last week. The project feeds about 120 million children every day across India. Initially, the authorities were held responsible for not monitoring the food program.
“You only come and do checks when you get complaints or when there are serious cases. This was the first time,” said Rudranarayan Ram, the local education administrator for the village of Gandaman in Bihar.
