The Kashmiri Chief Minister Omar Abdullah this Monday took notice of the incident involving Kashmiri students. Reacting sharply towards the violence against Kashmiris in a university in Greater Noida this Saturday in which three students from the valley were brutally beaten in their hostel room and made to shout anti-Pakistan slogans. He expressed that these kind of reactions will further alienate the Kashmiris against the Indians.
Omar also demanded all the universities and state authorities to protect Kashmiri students or accept the fact that they can’t provide protection to the students. “Let’s beat patriotism in to Kashmiri students, why don’t we. Great way to remove any fear or sense of alienation among Kashmiris. Thugs!!!” Omar tweeted this Monday morning. “If the universities or state authorities can’t protect Kashmiri students coming there then man up & admit your inability or unwillingness,” he further added. Omar added in his tweets that he is sending the Resident Commissioner from Delhi to visit the university and would not hesitate in acting towards this violence after taking into account all the facts.“I’m sending the Resident Commissioner from Delhi to visit the university in question to ascertain all the facts before deciding next steps,” Omar tweeted.
Disappointed and refusing to accept this kind of treatment, around 100 Kashmiri students protested with their bags packed against the university officials for their failure to provide them security and protection. The incident is reminiscent of a similar incident in March when 67 students from Kashmir were expelled and charged with sedition following a clash over alleged support for Pakistan during the Indo-Pak Asia Cup cricket clash.
