The Congress and also the former Uttar Pradeh and Uttarakhand Chief Minister and Andhra Pradesh Governor N D Tiwari has finally tied the knot with Ujjawala Sharma, the mother of his biological son Rohit Shekhar who fought a legal battle to claim his right.
“Tiwariji married Ujjawala Sharma yesterday at his Mall Avenue residence”, a staff member of the 89-year-old Tiwari informed. The 67-year-old Sharma said the marriage was conducted in a traditional way and was a small private gathering. “He wanted to give social sanctity to our relationship, which was very old and we have a 35-year-old son. We will complete legal formalities after which we will invite all”, she told reporters. Tiwari, was involved in a lengthy six year old legal battle with Sharma, a retired teacher, to accept Shekhar as his biological son. This month after protesting outside his house she was finally accepted by Tiwari and has been living with him since then.
The Delhi High Court had on the 22nd of April held that Tiwari was the biological father of Rohit Shehkar. Ahead of the court verdict, Tiwari had accepted that Rohit was his son at a press conference in March. Rohit had in 2007 filed the paternity suit claiming that the senior Congress leader and Sharma be declared as his biological parents. Besides serving as a chief minister of UP thrice and Uttarakhand once, Tiwari served as Governor of Andhra Pradesh between the years 2007 to 2009.
