This Friday, the three day old government in Bihar won the trust votes in the state Assembly whereas the opposition of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) walked out. The confidence in Manjhi was reflected in the special session of voice vote.

In the state Assembly, whose effective strength presently is 237, the new governmentwas able to attain the support of 145 legislators. Besides 117 JD(U) MLAs, 21 of the RJD, four of the Congress, one of CPI and two Independents voted in favor of the trust motion while 88 BJP legislators staged walkout in the House before the motion was put to vote. The 68 year old could not hide his happiness as he talked to the reporters outside the Assembly. Manjhi informed that the Cabinet will be expanded soon without giving certain time period or date.

“I had support of 124 MLAs, including 4 of Congress, against the magic figure of 118 in the House whose effective strength at present is 237…There was no problem in my ways to win trust vote. But since RJD voted for me in the name of social justice I thank them,” said the CM. Praising the former CM, Nitish Kumar whom he succeeded and who chose him as his successor, Manjhi said, “Nitish Kumar’s love for weaker sections was no show off.You all are witness to the episode when he had offered his own chair to ‘mountainman’ Dasrath Manjhi credited with carving out roads through mountains in Gaya,”
