The Malaysian Police have identified more foreign militants who are still hiding in Malaysia to avoid arrests for involvement in terrorism. The Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said police were continuously monitoring to track down these militants.
“We have identified some and are hunting for more. For your information today, the four militants we arrested recently have been charged in court under the Penal Code. Our monitoring is ongoing, so don’t think the police are not doing anything, but I cannot disclose everything as the investigation is still on,” the IGP told reporters after a briefing at the state police headquarters, in conjunction with the Bukit Gelugor by-election. “We have identified some and are hunting for more. For your information today, the four militants we arrested recently have been charged in court under the Penal Code,” informed the Inspector General of Police.
The IGP further added that the police viewed seriously the attempts by these terrrorists to recruit Malaysians, especially youths, into their activities. “Youths are their target of their propaganda and to get them involved in terrorism,” he said. According to the IGP the militants had fled from their countries to Malaysia to avoid arrest from authorities.
