Justice Ali Baqar Najafi who is serving as the judicial commission judge for the investigation of the Model Town Lahore tragedy this Saturday has received letter from an anonymous person(s) threatening to kill him and his family if he does not close the case. Security of the judge has been increased after the death threat.

There are reports in the media that Justice Ali Baqar Najafi has received death threat in a letter asking him the close the case of Model Town incident in which 12 people including women lost their lives as a result of indiscriminate firing by the police on June 17. The Chief Justice of Lahore High Court had constituted one member judicial commission headed by Justice Ali Baqar Najafi on the request of the Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif. It has been made sure that the security of the Justice Ali Baqar Najafi is increased after the death threat. It is reported that additional police force is also deployed at the premises of Lahore High Court according to News Pakistan.

The house of Dr. Tahirul Qadri, the chief of PAT, had been attacked during the Model Town Lahore Tragedy. More than eighty people were injured and eight were declared dead on the spot. Two women were part of the deceased. The death toll had increased to eleven as the injured supporters of PAT waited for assistance by the General and Jinnah Hospital doctors.
