The Singapore police arrested 409 people in a week-long operation which ended this early Saturday morning on the 6th of September.
The police officers carried out enforcement checks at numerous public entertainment outlets as well as massage parlours, and busted four illegal gambling dens and also two online vice syndicates operating out of hotels and private apartments. “Apart from enforcement checks at public entertainment outlets and massage establishments, four illegal gambling dens as well as two online vice syndicates operating out of hotels and private apartments were also busted,” said the police in a statement today.
The suspects who include 78 men and 331 women, were arrested for various offences which included illegal employment, unlicensed moneylending, soliciting in public places and illegal punting. The youngest suspect is 15 years old, while the oldest is 82 according to Channel News Asia. Commander of Central Police Division, Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police Daniel Tan said: “Police will continue to clamp down on criminal activities. Those found engaging in illicit activities will be dealt with in accordance to the law.” Investigations are ongoing.
