This Tuesday, after meeting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders and the Congress and Aam Admi Party (AAP) leaders yesterday, the Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung has sent his report to President Pranab Mukherjee. The report includes recommendations on government formation.

All the parties made it clear that they were in favor of fresh elections and the thus the L-G in his report recommended the dissolution of the Delhi Assembly. The Supreme Court gave the L-G time till the 11th of November to explore any possibility of forming a government at the national capital. The L-G made it clear that no party was ready to form a government without new elections. Relying on L-G’s recommendations, the Union Cabinet is scheduled to meet at 1 pm on Tuesday. The Cabinet meeting, to be chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is expected to discuss the report of Jung on Delhi’s political situation according to IBN.

The BJP leaders included President of Delhi Satish Upadhyay, and senior leader and MLA Jagdish Mukhi who were the first to meet Jung this Monday. “We have made our stand clear to the lieutenant governor. Our party has been maintaining since the beginning that we will not indulge in any kind of manipulation,” Hindustan Times quoted Upadhyay. Whereas the Congress legislator Haroon Yusuf informed Jung that his party also wanted the Delhi assembly dissolved. “We have been consistent on our stand that no party has numbers to give a stable government in Delhi and this is what we told the L-G also. We recommended that the house should immediately be dissolved and fresh elections be announced in the Capital,” he told reporters after meeting Jung.
