The Singapore Democratic Party this Saturday launched its campaign for the next general elections. It further announced that it plans to contest for the same four constituencies that it contested for in the last, 2011 elections.

The party’s Secretary-General Chee Soon Juan unveiled SDP’s plan while also launching the party slogan which is, ‘Your Voice In Parliament”. Dr Chee was also asked whether he will contest for the next election to which the Secretary-General replied that it had been long since he stood for elections and it would be an “interesting contest this time around”. He also added that it would be ‘premature’ to say anything. He further informed that SDP will introduce its candidates for the elections at its pre-election rally in Hong Lim Park this October. Today Online news portal informed that the party also plans to release an economic policy paper in February and its manifesto in May.

Dr Chee said he was excited about leading SDP in the next elections. “I’m excited about the prospect of leading the SDP into the next elections, excited about the opportunity of presenting our alternative vision to the people of Singapore, and excited that right now, we have the opportunity to effect change and take Singapore up a different path. One that is democratic, dynamic, just, equal and compassionate,” said Dr Chee.
