Darren Mahoney, the lawyer of alleged murderer 41-year-old, real estate agent Gerard Baden-Clay said that his client was innocent and would file an urgent file for his bail.

“Mr. Baden-Clay maintains his innocence, the next step is to apply for bail in the Supreme Court,” he said.

Baden-Clay was charged with the murder of his wife Allison Baden-Clay that was occurred at her home in Brookfield and the alleged interference of the corpse occurred at Kholo Creek in Anstead. His court appearance is exactly eight weeks from the day police allege he murdered the 43-year-old former beauty queen.

Baden-Clay was arrested yesterday and was led into the dock at Brisbane’s Magistrate’s Court this morning. He stood with his back to the public gallery.

Wearing the same pink shirt that he was wearing while he was arrested last night as opposed to the usual prison track suit, he sat slumped facing the judge and expressionless in the dock of the Brisbane Magistrates Court and was remanded to appear on July 9. The hearing lasted for less than a minute.

The police requested for a DNA sample when he made another court appearance after an hour and consented to a non-intimate examination order via his lawyer Mahoney to allow the police to take forensic samples such as photographs or footprints.

Bade-Clay was ordered by the Brisbane magistrate to provide a hair sample to the detectives who were conducting an inquiry of his wife’s death.

An hour later he made another brief court appearance and consented to a “non-intimate” examination order – to allow police to take forensic samples which can include hair, photographs, or footprints.
