Onile Huggins, 19, of Mawbey Street SW8, is due to appear at Camberwell Green Magistrates’ Court today, Monday 11 October, charged with two counts of rape on a woman aged 22 years in Stockwell – on 12 April and 14 July.
He was arrested on Saturday after detectives from the Metropolitan Police Service’s Sapphire command issued appeals earlier this week about the attacks.
The 22-year-old victim was first raped on 12 April in Stockwell. She had been visiting family and was making her way home along Stockwell Road SW9 at about midnight when she passed a man who was standing on the pavement.
The man followed the woman, stopped her and forced her into the front area of a house where he raped her.
On 14 July at about 01:50hrs, the woman got off a bus in Stockwell Road and walked into Dorset Road SW8 where she noticed a man standing close to a school. He approached the woman and she recognised him as the same man who had raped her on 12 April. He forced her into a nearby park where he raped her once more.
At approx. 15.25hrs on Saturday Huggins was arrested in the street in the South Lambeth SW8 area on suspicion of rape and taken into custody at a south London police station.
