The Home Office will appoint a senior legal figure to conduct a fresh review into lost dossier containing material on alleged paedophile activity at Westminster in the 1980s and its handling by the department.
The review has been ordered by Prime Minister David Cameron to examine what happened to the 50-page dossier handed to the then home secretary, Leon (now Lord) Brittan by the Conservative MP Geoffrey Dickens in 1983.
Mr Cameron has insisted on Friday that he understood the concerns which had been raised about the missing file, as he has said: “That’s why I’ve asked the permanent secretary at the Home Office (Mark Sedwill) to do everything he can to find answers to all of these questions and to make sure we can reassure people about these events.”
“So it’s right that these investigations are made.”
The Home Office permanent secretary, Mark Sedwill has written to Mr Cameron to say the new investigation would assess the soundness of the findings of an earlier review conducted during 2013.
The step has been taken in the wake of fresh questions over the credibility of Home Office and the way it handled a sensitive dossier during 1980s.
The previous review conducted last year had led to the conclusion that the file containing all the relevant information had been passed to the police and the remaining material had been destroyed in line with the policies of the time.
Mr Sedwill has written in his letter to PM: “To provide the additional reassurance you are seeking, particularly in view of information now in the public domain since the investigation’s conclusion last year, I will engage a senior independent legal figure to assess whether the review’s conclusions remain sound. I aim to make the appointment within the next week.”
Labour leader Ed Miliband has also agreed that an inquiry should be conducted, adding that child protection experts and others “to draw together all the lessons we’ve learned in the last few years about child abuse.”

The Home Office is a corrupt department of government. Therefore a public enquiry into this department is fully overdue. Indeed civil servants within the department from the top down have hoodwinked ministers for decades and corrupted information that ministers have based their decision-making process on for all those decades. For behind closed doors and away from the Home Office senior civil servants have made countless deals with financial and economic interests to the detriment of the British people. Just one single example but highly relevant is how the mighty pharmaceutical industry through Home Office senior civil servants stopped the introduction of the humane cure for class ‘A’ drug addiction that would have hit the bottom-line of drug companies by billions of dollars every year. So the Home Office suppressed it and stopped it with the complicity of politicians and former Home Secretaries.
‘What ‘Successive’ Governments and Whitehall have covered-up and ‘Not’ told the British People about Hard Drug Addiction Treatments that simply will never work’ – http://worldinnovationfoundation.blogspot.co.uk/2014/01/what-successive-governments-and.html
Time definitely for a ‘PUBLIC’ Enquiry into the loss of these destroyed child paedophile files (senior home office civil servants were cited within them according to media information) and the Home Office’s draconian and corrupt operations – the things that the voters never learn about. The reason, the press and UK media never disclosed it either concerning how the Home Office buried the only cheap and humane cure for hard drug addiction. Therefore all the Establishment is duplicitous in the cover-ups that have gone on for decades – senior civil servants – senior politician and UK media.
Again the people need to know the truth and only a Public Enquiry can get to the bottom of this, not an internal investigation by a so-called independent who will whitewash everyone as usual.
