Cameron refuses to surrender over IS threat

U.K. Prime Minister David Cameron has established that Britain will not surrender to Islamic State (IS) extremists’ threat of killing a British hostage and will not pay ransom against its aim to defeat terrorism.

Mr Cameron has also condemned the shocking video of another American journalist Steven Sotloff’s beheading for threatening U.S. to stop its air strikes in Iraq. The Prime minister has said that if the video is authentic, then it is a “despicable and barbaric murder”.

It has been emerged on Wednesday that the murder of Sotloff was a subject of a failed rescue attempt by U.S. special forces. The 31-year-old Sotloff is the second journalist to be executed in Syria by Islamic militants in the last two weeks.

Sources disclosed that the a captive Britain aid worker David Cawthorne Haines was one of the targets of a failed US-led operation to free people being held by Islamists in Syria. During the last month, it has been occurred that U.S. special forces soldiers fought Isil militants during an unsuccessful night-time raid as they attempted to free a missing American journalist James Foley and a number of other hostages, understood to include the British citizen.

The U.S. State Department spokesperson, Jen Psaki has stated after the release of video that if the video is genuine then, “we are sickened by this brutal act.”

Mr Cameron has been holding regular emergency chairing a Cabinet Office Briefing Rooms (COBR) meeting on Wednesday to review the latest development over the fate of the British captive seized in Syria during March last year.

The Conservatives leader has stated: “We have already been working hard to keep British people safe and we will continue to do all we can to protect our country and our people from these barbaric terrorists.

“ISIL terrorists speak for no religion. They threaten Syrians, Iraqis, Americans and British people alike and make no distinction between Muslims, Christians or any other faith.”
