Former Secretary of State for Defence, Liam Fox, has publicly announced his support for the UK to leave the European Union and declared that he will vote in favour of exiting the union. Fox demanded David Cameron “to end the pretence” of EU renegotiation and back an “out” vote at the referendum.

In his remarks, Dr Fox pointed out that Mr. Cameron should allow cabinet members to campaign for an EU exit without having to resign – despite disagreeing with the prime minister.Prime Minister Cameron has promised to hold an in-out referendum on EU membership before the end of 2017. According to a statement issued on Friday, Mr. Cameron stated that the UK would “fundamentally change” its relationship with the EU in 2016, following talks with fellow leaders in Brussels.

Whereas on the other hand, Dr Fox has stressed that the sight of Mr Cameron taking “the political begging bowl around European capitals” to bag only minor reforms should already persuade people to back a “Brexit.” In addition to that, Mr. Fox has mentioned that the decision to make a single EU-wide border force was a critical moment. He alleged that “this is a force that will be deployed by the [European] Commission, not by elected governments, and in fact, can be done against the will of sovereign governments,” adding “that for me is the clearest possible indication about the direction of travel of Europe and I can’t accept that.”
