Teen arrested for pellet gun shooting at Marc Garneau Collegiate Institute

On Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at approximately 11:04 a.m., police were called to Marc Garneau Collegiate Institute at 135 Overlea Boulevard for a shooting.

It is alleged that:

– a student, walking in the hallway, was grazed by a pellet gun,

– the school was placed in lockdown as police investigated,

– a 16-year-old student was arrested without incident.

An air pistol and several pellets were seized.

A 16-year-old boy has been charged with:

1. Weapons Dangerous,
2. Assault with a Weapon,
3. Mischief – Interfering with Property.

He is scheduled to appear in court on June 27, 2011.

The name of the accused cannot be released under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Marc Garneau Collegiate Institute has a School Resource Officer (SRO)assigned to it. The SRO was at the school during the investigation.
