Police charge Edmonton man Stephen Robichaud for sexual assaults over 20 year span

EPS Vice Section Detectives have laid numerous charges in a case involving procuring, sex assault and living off the avails of prostitution between 1990 and 2010.

A female complainant came forward to police in October 2010, alleging that after meeting a man, she was allegedly forced into prostitution and sexually and physically assaulted for more than 10 years. In December 2010, detectives interviewed a second female complainant and were able to corroborate the information. After a lengthy investigation and consultation with the crown prosecutor, detectives determined that charges would be laid. One man has been charged so far, and charges are pending against two more men who were allegedly involved in the case.

On April 29, 2011 investigators charged Stephen Robichaud, 46, with procuring (x2), living off the avails (x2), sex assault (x2), controlling and directing, assault and assault causing bodily harm.

Robichaud’s next court date is on June 7, 2011.
