On December 3, 2010 at 8:37 p.m., police responded to a call of an injured man in the 100 block of Lavender Walk. Upon arrival, officers located 20-year-old Brandon Hatcher who had been shot. He was transported to hospital where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.
Earlier this year, three people were charged with his murder and those cases are currently before the courts. As a result of the on-going investigation by officers assigned to the HRP/RCMP Integrated Major Crime Unit, 24-year-old Sarah Marie Oakley of Halifax was arrested yesterday at 1 p.m. at a Dartmouth address. She will be appearing in Halifax Provincial Court today to face a charge of accessory after the fact.
The charges previously laid in this case significantly disrupted a criminal faction operating in the Spryfield area. Today’s charge serves as a reminder that police will not only focus their investigation on those people directly involved in crime but also on anyone who aids and assists people involved in crime.
