The Hamilton Police Service arrested and charged a 30 yr. old Hamilton woman after investigating a mid-day bank robbery in Hamilton’s East End.

On Thursday, May 26th, 2011 at approximately 12:00 p.m., a lone female suspect entered the CIBC bank located at 1273 Barton St. E., approached the teller and produced a note demanding cash. The clerk complied with the demand and provided an undisclosed amount of cash to the woman. The woman fled the bank in an unknown direction.

The Hamilton Police Service Break, Enter, Auto Theft and Robbery (BEAR) Unit continued to investigate and identified a suspect as being Nadia LEWIS. Attempts to locate LEWIS throughout the day were unsuccessful.

Today, at approximately 4:30 a.m., Nadia LEWIS walked into the Hamilton Police Service East End station where she was arrested. LEWIS is scheduled for a bail hearing today.
