On June 7, 2011, at approximately 10 p.m., members of the District 8 Acadian Peninsula RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision on Route 313 in Sainte-Cécile, N.B., on Lamèque Island.

A car and a motorcycle were involved in the collision. The driver of the motorcycle, a 23-year-old woman from Shippagan, was transported to hospital with undisclosed injuries. She died in hospital on June 8. No one else was injured.

A collision reconstructionist attended the scene. The investigation into the crash is ongoing. Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor.

The woman’s name is not being released at this time, pending notification of her family
