Calgary police seek help in the death of Guadalupe Catbagan

The Calgary Police Service is seeking public assistance to locate property missing from a woman whose body was found in the Bow River early last week.

Just before 6 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2011, the Calgary Police Service responded to reports of a body in the Bow River near the 1000 block of Memorial Drive N.E. Police, with the assistance of the Calgary Fire Department, located the body of a deceased elderly female around 6:30 p.m.

An autopsy was conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner on Wednesday, July 6, 2011. The victim has been identified as Guadalupe CATBAGAN, 74, of Calgary.

The autopsy determined the manner of death is not believed to be suspicious. However, investigators are seeking the public’s assistance to locate several pieces of CATBAGAN’s jewellery that were reported missing by her family.

Investigators are also looking for information to assist in establishing the victim’s movements prior to her death.

CATBAGAN left her home in Castleridge around 8 a.m. on Monday, July 4, 2011 and did not return home as expected later that day. After efforts to locate her were unsuccessful, members of CATBAGAN’s family reported her missing to police around 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2011.
