Hamilton police officer charged with impaired driving

An eight year member of the Hamilton Police Service was arrested and charged on July 24, 2011.

On July 24, 2011 at approximately 2:55 a.m. near Barrie, the O.P.P. stopped an off-duty Hamilton Police Officer who was operating a motor vehicle while his ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol or drug.

The OPP made the following arrest:

Charged: Douglas SEPHTON, 34 years, Hamilton

Charge: Impaired Driving

Officer Sephton was released on a Promise to Appear and will appear in court on August 8, 2011 in Barrie. The officer remains restricted to administrative duties.
