Burnaby police charge son with the murder of his mother

The 24 year old son of the homicide victim who was fatally stabbed in Burnaby has been charged.

Benedict Bernabe TOMAJIN age 24 of Burnaby has been charged with second degree murder regarding the homicide of his 45 year old mother Josie TOMAJIN on Monday August 8, 2011 in Burnaby.

TOMAJIN has been remanded in custody and will appear in Vancouver Provincial Court at 1:30pm today Wednesday August 10, 2011.

On Monday August 8, 2011 at 6:30 pm Burnaby RCMP responded to several 911 calls regarding a stabbing in the 6700 block of Elwell St. Uniformed officers attended and immediately located a 45 year old woman laying on the roadway suffering from multiple lacerations and stab wounds. Officers immediately began CPR. BC Ambulance Service attended and transported the victim to a local area hospital where she died several hours later.The victim resided in the 6800 block of Elwell St.

Initial investigation at the scene by the Burnaby RCMP identified several witnesses at the scene which resulted in the arrest of the victims 24 year old son Benedict Bernabe TOMAJIN
