Domestic fight leads Calgary man to slash baby

The Calgary Police Service Child Abuse Unit is currently investing an assault on a child following a domestic incident.

At approximately 4:15 a.m., today, Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, officers responded to a 911 call in the 1000 block of Cranston Drive S.E.

When officers arrived they made entry into the home and arrested an agitated man who had slashed a six-month-old child several times. The child was quickly transported by EMS to a local hospital in critical condition. The child’s condition has since been upgraded to stable.

The man was arrested by officers and remains in police custody as the investigation continues.

Investigators believe other individuals reside at this premises and need to speak with them as soon as possible. It’s not known if anyone else was at home at the time of the incident, however, no individuals were located upon police arrival.
